Xiaomi finally unveiled its latest and much-awaited Mi 10 5G flagship smartphone to the Indian markets along with the Mi True Wireless Earphones 2 and Mi Box 4K on May 8, 2020. Xiaomi has been the front-runner on entry-level and mid-tier smartphone segments in India but the brand hasn’t focused much of its attention on the high-end flagship segment in the country. The Mi 5 was Xiaomi’s last proper flagship that was launched here back in 2016.
Now, with the release of the Mi 10 5G smartphone, Xiaomi has decided to shift its focus towards the high-end smartphone market segments. While the brand has also launched the Mi 10 Pro and Mi 10 Lite in other countries, right now it’s sticking to the Mi 10 5G model only in India.
The Xiaomi Mi 10 5G features top-of-the-line Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 chipset, a tempting 108MP main shooter, and 8K video shooting capabilities.
Xiaomi Mi 10 5G Specifications
The Mi 10 5G features a 6.67-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with curved edges, 180Hz touch sampling rate, and a refresh rate of 90Hz like the just-announced OnePlus 8. The screen sports a DotDisplay design with a cutout for the front camera and offers a peak brightness of 1120 nits. The smartphone is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 chipset with an adjacent X55 5G modem and comes with an Adreno 650 GPU.
The biggest USP of Xiaomi’s Mi 10 5G smartphone is the 108MP primary sensor at the rear panel similar to the
Galaxy S20 Ultra. Apart from the 108MP primary shooter, the quad-rear camera setup includes a 13MP ultra-wide sensor, paired with a 2MP depth sensor and a 2MP macro lens. On the front, there’s a 20MP sensor for clicking selfies. Now coming to the video shooting capabilities, the Mi 10 5G is the only smartphone beside the Galaxy S20 series that can record 8K videos. There’s also an option to shoot 4K videos at 30/60fps.
Coming to the battery, the Xiaomi Mi 10 5G packs a large 4,780mAh battery with 30W wired as well as wireless fast charging support. The phone also offers 10W reverse wireless charging which can be used to charge accessories or other smartphones. Xiaomi has also launched its 30W Qi-certified wireless charger in India, which will be sold as a separate accessory. Although the charger is priced at Rs 2,299, the customers can grab it at a special introductory price of Rs 1,999.
Interestingly, the Xiaomi Mi 10 is launched with future-proof communication specifications like support for 5G networks and Wi-Fi 6 compatibility. Therefore, the Mi 10 smartphone marks its entry to the Wi-Fi 6 compatible smartphones available right now in the market. The smartphone will be shipped with Android 10 and the company’s signature MIUI 11 running on the top.
Price and Availability
The Xiaomi Mi 10 5G is available in two color options, Coral Green and Twilight Grey finish. The 8GB RAM and 128GB storage option is available at Rs 49,999 with the maxed-out 8GB RAM and 256GB variant priced at Rs 54,999 which makes them direct competitors to the segment favorite OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pr0. The smartphones are already up for pre-orders on Amazon and Mi.com, starting today.
Offers
- Customers who pre-book the Xiaomi Mi 10 5G will get a wireless power bank worth Rs 2,499 complimentary with the phone.

- HDFC card-holders can avail a cashback of up to Rs 3,000.
The smartphone and everything announced with it, will go on sale on the Mi website, select offline stores, and Amazon from May 11, 2020. It’s imperative that the Xiaomi Mi 10 5G will rival
the OnePlus 8 series, which has a similar price bracket and will also go on sale from May 11, 2020.
