Why this is the absolute worst time to buy a flagship phone

We have a lot of great flagship smartphones on sale today. The Galaxy S8, LG G6, HTC U11 are some of the recently released smartphones which are exceptional performers. However, despite this, if you’re in the market for a new phone, I’d strongly suggest you to wait. In fact, this time of the year is never ideal for buying a new smartphone. With exciting flagships like the Galaxy Note 8, Pixel 2 and the next iPhone waiting to be announced in the coming couple of months, waiting seems to be the better option.

The Galaxy Note 7 was an excellent phone before it decided to blow up on people. It was clearly better than the S7 Edge, offering a more polished experience. Similarly, we can expect the Note 8 to further improve on the already great design of the S8, and provide excellent cameras and display, something reminiscent of Samsung flagship phones. We can also be optimistic and expect it not to blow up this time.

The Google Pixel still provides the best software experience on Android and its camera can still hold its own, even after 10 months since it was unveiled. We can expect all this to be polished and the hardware to be more exciting than the mundane hardware of the Pixel that we have right now.

Apple needs to step up its game desperately for the next iPhone. With bezel less displays being the new star of the show, Apple needs to jump on the bandwagon and completely redesign the iPhone, something it didn’t quite do with the iPhone 7. A newer and better camera, improved battery life, faster processors, better battery life are other things that can be reasonably expected from the next iPhone.

All said, even if none of these flagships steal your fancy, waiting is still a wise option. That’s because once these phones are out, the prices of the current flagships are sure to drop, with attractive discounts and deals cropping up from time to time. So even if you eventually decide to go for the Galaxy S8 after 2 months, you’ll definitely pay less than what you would if you go out and buy it today.

So, if the itch is not strong enough and your current phone can still last you a couple of months, I’d say wait it out. It’s definitely going to be worth it when you get to choose from the newer array of flagships coming our way.
