Satechi recently announced a very interesting product to their USB Type-C accessories lineup. The USB-C Hybrid Multiport Adapter is designed with data storage in mind, with a built-in SSD storage compartment and fast data transfer rates (up to 5 Gbps) to easily increase storage capacity and access important file backups or media safely on the go.
It has a 100W USB-C PD passthrough which can supply your computer with around 85W after it takes the energy it needs to operate, two USB-A 3.0 ports, and an HDMI port capable of driving a 4K screen at 60Hz. Lastly, there’s the M.2 port for adding a SATA SSD on the go.

SATA M.2 SSDs are compatible with the enclosure (2230, 2242, 2260, and 2280). It does not, however, support NVME SSDs. While the new USB-C Multiport Adapter is limited to 5 Gbps data speeds, it’s a nice little hub that could be a good backup option when speed isn’t a priority and basic I/O needs are met.
It comes in the colors Black and Space Grey with its dimensions being 5.3 x 1.8 x 0.6 inches, 3.8 oz. Its compatible devices include 2021 MacBook Pro M1, MacBook Pro- 2016- 2029, 2020 M1 MacBook Pro & MacBook Air, 2018 MacBook Air, 2021 iPad Pro M1, 2018-2020 iPad Pro, 2020 iPad Air, 2015- 2017 MacBook, Microsoft Surface Laptop 3/Surface Pro 7/Go, Google PixelBook Go, Chromebook, Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro S, HP Spectre Convertible, Razer Blade and other laptops with Type-C USB port.
