Currently Samsung is the best smartphone brand and has a better track record when it comes to rolling out Android updates than most players in the industry. Adding more to its reputation, now the South Korean tech giant has announced to offer five years of security updates for flagships models. But, there’s a catch.
Remember, this is limited to the enterprise edition of Galaxy S21 series (Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21+, and Galaxy S21 Ultra), Galaxy S20 series (Galaxy S20, Galaxy S20+, and Galaxy S20 Ultra), Galaxy Note 20 series, Galaxy XCover 5, and the Galaxy Tab Active 3. Apart from that, Samsung offers four years of security updates on all other enterprise edition devices.
Samsung’s enterprise editions devices are crafted especially for business purposes. Enterprise edition devices are meant to offer additional security and data management features designed and managed by the company’s IT department. Depending on the device, Samsung enterprise devices will receive security updates on a monthly and quarterly basis.
Also, there’s a good chance that Samsung will also provide five years of security updates to its non-enterprise models, as it did with the consumer versions of the Galaxy S6, Galaxy S7, and Galaxy S8.
