Microsoft has recently launched the 2nd generation of their Surface Laptop Go series after 2 years of the original Surface Laptop Go. It is an integral part of the company’s Surface line of personal computing devices. This model also retains the combination of budget-friendly price with premium looks, just like its predecessors.
The Microsoft Laptop Surface Go 2 is one of the most affordable options in the lineup of surface laptops. There is not a lot of change in the overall aesthetic but the improved software experience, upgraded internals, and a better webcam take care of some of the major issues present in the original model. Let’s find out what the new Microsoft Surface Laptop Go 2 has to offer.
There are 2 types of models available in the market: One is the Consumer Model while the other is the Business Model. There is not a lot of difference superficially but the RAM, Windows version, and Price may differ depending on which color and specification you choose.
Microsoft Surface Laptop Go 2: Design
There is not a very significant change in the design of the Surface Laptop Go 2 and it retains most of the looks of the original Surface Laptop Go. The screen size is 12.4” with a resolution of 1,536 x 1,024 pixels which means it is not offering the full 1080p experience. The ports are identical (one USB-C and one USB-A port, a headphone jack, and a Surface Connect Port). It weighs 2.48 pounds and the dimensions are 10.95 x 8.1 x 0.62 inches.
However, the Surface Laptop Go 2 comes in a unique, new color called Sage. This is the 1st Surface product that we’re seeing in this finish. Other than Sage, this model is also available in Platinum, Ice Blue, and Sandstone.

Microsoft Surface Laptop Go 2: Specs
The Surface Laptop Go 2 comes with Windows 11 Home in Consumer models and Windows 10/11 Pro in Business Models. The 11th Gen Intel® Core i5-1135G7 processor is a clear step up from the 10th Gen i5 from the precursor model. It’s still not cutting edge because we have already seen Intel’s 12th Gen Alder Lake Chips which have been changing the meaning of power efficiency for months now.
The base model of the Surface Laptop Go 2 comes with 4GB of RAM and 128 GB of SSD storage but it can go all the way up to 16GB of RAM and 256GB SSD in the business models. There are also fingerprint readers available on all 8GB models. However, the webcam is expected to be pretty average with a 720p sensor in all models although the far-field mics should provide refined audio quality in video calls.

Microsoft Surface Laptop Go 2: Overview
The overall overview of the Microsoft Surface Laptop Go 2 is pretty solid if not commendable. The refreshed and faster Intel CPU, removable SSD, higher standard storage, and thin bezels combine to deliver a promising entry-level laptop. The battery can be a problem like its predecessor which promised 13.5 hours but gave only 8 hours in real-world use.
