Amidst the battery debacle of the Pixel 6 and the Pixel 6 Pro, users have reported that the under-display fingerprint scanner does not appear to register fingerprints on certain screen protectors.
Google has released a list of screen protector brands that have been certified as “Made for Google.” Google now lists businesses that provide Made for Google certified screen protectors for the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro on their help page for “Unlocking your Pixel phone with your fingerprint.” The certified brands are Zagg, Otterbox and Panzerglass.

Google recently addressed why the Pixel 6’s fingerprint scanner can be sluggish at times. The fingerprint reader in the Pixel 6 uses advanced security algorithms, according to Google, which can cause delays or need more direct contact with the sensor.
However, the Pixel 6’s optical under-display sensor isn’t as fast as those found on competing flagships like the OnePlus 9 Pro, but it’s not excessively slow either, according to reviews.
