Technology leaks have been getting bigger than ever. Gone are the days of Steve Jobs’ lip sealed secrecy where not even a single detail was leaked out before the actual reveal. Pretty much every manufacturer is battling(or maybe not) a series of leaks which spoil their hyped up products before the actual reveal.
But if anyone deserves an award for not being able to keep a secret, it’s Google. The Pixel 3 XL is more than a month away from getting unveiled and probably 2 months away from going on sale. A few blurred leaked photographs here and there have been common place for a couple of years now but the Pixel 3 XL leaks have been on a whole other level. It has leaked to the point that several unboxing and setup videos have already made their way to the internet. Someone even went on to unbox the phone and then proceed to show off it’s wireless charing capabilities.
It has been alleged for years now that manufacturers let the leaks flow to keep the hype up. But this is more of a buzz kill than a hype booster. I am a huge fan of the Pixel line up but I am not excited about the new device anymore because I know exactly what I’m going to get. The craziness has gone to the point where Google can just host a 5 minute Pixel event where they reveal only the pricing, if they manage to save that from leaking. There have been speculations of an Ultra Pixel, which say that the Pixel 3 XL leaks are just a cover to keep the real gem of the event under wraps. The supposed Ultra Pixel, if it even exists, is supposed to have the fastest, most up to date internals along with a true bezel less display without any notch. It will also cross the $1000 price tag to join the club along with the iPhone X and Galaxy Note 9.
