The Galaxy Note series can be rightfully called the birth of the phablet. The Galaxy Note was huge compared to competition when it was released back in 2011. Many were skeptical of how well the phone would sell, but it turned out to be one of the most successful line of smartphones in the industry.
Ever since then, the Note series of phones have been a better, larger and more polished version of the Galaxy S flagship of that year. The Note series of phones have always received positive reviews, always better than the Galaxy S series. That was until last year, when Samsung blew it all out with the Note 7. The phone was again met with extremely positive reviews in the beginning but had to be recalled weeks after the launch because it started exploding due to a battery circuit issue.
Now a blow this big might injure a company’s reputation big time, but this is Samsung we’re talking about. They hit back hard with the Galaxy S8 and S8+, delivering stellar looking smartphones which sold extremely well. Many speculated that the Note series was gone for good, but Samsung, apparently, has other plans. They have recently sent out invites for the unveiling of the Galaxy Note 8 scheduled on the 23rd of August and I couldn’t be more excited about it.
With the Note 8, we’ll get the S Pen back, which a lot of users like me love to have. The display would be gorgeous just like the S8 and there would be an all new design, further refining the masterpiece that is the S8. I don’t really expect the phone to be larger than the already the massive S8+ though there might be changes in the aspect ratio. The phone will definitely have the same curved infinity display technology found on the S8 and S8+. Also, we can be sure that Samsung would have done way more rigorous battery tests on this phone than the Note 7, so chances of any mishaps are extremely less.
What makes this phone exciting for me is that I’ll finally be able to get excellent battery life and the S Pen, both lacking from my regular Galaxy S8. Competition is going to be tough with promising phones like the Pixel 2, iPhone 7S/8 and the LG V30 coming up soon. Let’s see which phone manages to capture and dominate the smartphone market this year. Exciting times, indeed.
