Instagram recently rolled out some amazing features to make the overall user experience more enjoyable. Now, this popular social media platform has finally announced the much-needed security and safety tools with an aim to resolve account access-related issues. Instagram’s new security feature helps hacked users regain access to their accounts. Yes, you’ve heard it right! We know that accessing a hacked Instagram account has always been an issue for users, and this new tool is supremely useful for Instagram users who have been a victim of hacking.
We all have seen how the Instagram accounts of high-profile influencers get hacked. It’s not only common with influencers and content creators, we’ve also seen common users facing such issues. Once your account is hacked, you won’t be able to access it. You would lose all your followers. Sadly, recovering a hacked account hasn’t been an easy thing. So, you would create a new account and start your Instagram journey all over again and wait months and months for Instagram to look into this. That said, that can be considered a thing of the past now. The newly launched Instagram tool has completely turned the tables around.

How to recover a hacked Instagram account?
The Meta-owned Instagram announced a hub, instagram.com/hacked/ where users can report and resolve their account access issues. Basically, it’s an all-in-one account support page that offers help on various issues, including a hacked account, impersonation, forgotten passwords, loss of two-factor authentication, or a disabled account. You can select the issue that you’re facing and follow the recommended steps to regain access to your Instagram account. If you want to recover your hacked account, you would have to confirm your identity to verify that the account is actually yours.
One of the recovery methods is to ask two of your Instagram friends to help you verify your identity. Your friends will receive a request which needs to be responded to within 24 hours. If they accept it, Instagram will allow you to reset your account’s password. Instagram started testing this feature earlier this year, and it’s now available to everyone.
More security features on Instagram
The Metaverse giant also said that it’s working on more measures to stop account hacking in the first place. It’s removing suspicious accounts that could be impersonating others. In the coming months, Instagram will start sending a warning if you get a DM from an impersonating account. Moving on, Instagram will now show the blue badge for verified accounts in more places. In addition to the profile, you’ll see a blue badge on DMs and stories too. Even more, you’ll soon see the badge on the feed as well. It will help users know of the account they’re interacting with is a real deal or not. All this is done to build a more robust and secure community.
